By Amina Kabasele2 min readFrançais

At least thirteen people, including displaced persons and seven combatants, were killed on Thursday during clashes between the CODECO militia and the Zaïre armed group in Maze, in the territory of Djugu (Ituri), according to MONUSCO, which condemns this resurgence of violence. The following night, further gunfire attributed to unidentified armed men caused the displacement of nearly 2,500 civilians to a UN base in Gina, 30 km from Bunia.

The UN mission, which has stepped up its joint patrols with the FARDC, is calling for an impartial investigation and urging armed groups to immediately cease hostilities in accordance with the Aru II Peace Agreement.
