Ituri: Police Officer Killed and Residents Missing After ADF Attack in Kamagolo
Kamagolo, Ituri, DRC - A suspected ADF rebel attack on the night of 23-24 October 2025 left one police officer dead, a lorry burned, and several residents missing in the village of Kamagolo, located 45 kilometres from Komanda in the Irumu territory of Ituri.
Local sources reported that the attackers, fleeing military operations near Lolwa on the Komanda-Mambasa axis, retreated into the nearby forest before launching the assault. The incident, occurring in an area previously considered peaceful, has prompted a mass exodus of villagers to the Mukasila 1 and 2 sites.
While joint FARDC-UPDF forces continue pursuing the rebels, civil society organizations are calling for an urgent strengthening of security measures to prevent further spread of the ADF threat in Irumu territory.
