Ituri: MONUSCO and FARDC Foil CRP Militia Attack in Djugu
On Monday, November 16, the FARDC and MONUSCO peacekeepers successfully repelled an attack planned by militias of the Convention for the Popular Revolution (CRP) near Sanduku, in the Djugu territory, about 45 km from Bunia.
The militiamen, spotted conducting reconnaissance with the aim of targeting sites for internally displaced persons (IDPs), were forced to retreat following the rapid response of FARDC forces and MONUSCO units, supported by warning shots.
Reinforcements from the Fataki base were deployed to secure the area, prevent further threats, and ensure the protection of civilians.
