Ituri: FARDC Reinforces Security on National Route 27 Despite Advanced State of Disrepair
On Tuesday, November 11, 2025 - The Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) reinforced their presence on National Route 27 between Bunia and Mahagi, significantly improving the safety of road users long exposed to attacks by armed groups, particularly in the Djugu territory.
Thanks to closer military deployments and mobile patrols day and night, ambushes are now rare, according to several accounts. However, the poor condition of this 185 km road, exacerbated by the rains, continues to immobilize hundreds of vehicles for several days.
Despite the persistent presence of certain militias, road users welcome the improved security and call on the government to redouble efforts to establish lasting peace and urgently rehabilitate this vital road for Ituri.
