Ituri: FARDC Discovers Major CRP Arms Caches, Seizing Over 100 Rifles
Kinshasa, November 25, 2025 - Djugu Territory, November 18, 2025. The Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) have seized 108 AK-47 rifles, 4 PKM machine guns, and large quantities of ammunition and military equipment in multiple villages across Ituri’s Djugu territory.
The operation targeted the Convention for the Popular Revolution (CRP) militia led by Thomas Lubanga. According to military sources, the arms caches, abandoned and buried by retreating fighters, were uncovered in Mabanga, Nizi, Plito, Iga-Barrière, and areas near Lake Albert.
After six consecutive days of fighting and the destruction of several militia positions, local civil society welcomed the progress made by government forces. However, it also condemned recent abuses, notably illegal roadblocks erected by certain soldiers, which continue to increase the vulnerability of civilians already affected by insecurity.
