Ituri: ADF intensifies attacks on the Komanda-Mambasa axis
Since Thursday, ADF rebels have stepped up their attacks on civilians along National Road 4 between Komanda and Mambasa, in the territories of Irumu and Mambasa. On Friday 3 September, they ambushed a tanker truck near Takumanza before being repelled by the FARDC, which shelled their positions near Lolwa, where violent clashes took place.
This resurgence of activity has caused many residents to flee to safer areas, while road traffic has been temporarily paralysed. Faced with this persistent threat, civil society and local authorities are calling on the Congolese and Ugandan joint forces to intensify their operations in order to neutralise these rebels.
