Islamic State Claims Attack on Nigerien Army Checkpoint in Ayorou
Niger, February 4, 2026 - The Islamic State announced an attack on a Nigerien army checkpoint in the town of Ayorou, Tillabéri region, carried out on January 22, 2026. The group claims the assault forced soldiers to flee, set one military vehicle on fire, and led to the seizure of five machine guns and three pistols.
