ISIS-Sahel Claims Suicide Car Bombing in Ménaka
Ménaka, February 13, 2026 - The Islamic State in the Sahel (ISIS-Sahel) claimed responsibility for a suicide car bombing targeting the Malian army and Russian African Corps personnel on the road between Ménaka and Ansongo last Thursday.
According to the group, the attack killed and wounded approximately ten soldiers and mercenaries and destroyed three military vehicles. The perpetrator was identified as Abdourrahman al-Ansari, marking ISIS-Sahel’s first claimed car bombing in recent months.
The incident highlights the continued threat of extremist attacks in Mali’s northern regions.
