Obock, Djibouti, March 26, 2026 - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has issued a warning over increased dangers for migrants attempting to cross the Red Sea route between Djibouti and Yemen. Officials say the seasonal strong winds significantly raise the risk of boat accidents and shipwrecks, particularly for overcrowded and unsafe vessels used by smuggling networks. The warning comes as humanitarian agencies continue to report repeated tragedies along one of the world’s most dangerous migration corridors.
