NIAMEY, Niger - In a coordinated crackdown on illegal activities, the National Guard of Niger successfully disrupted fuel smuggling operations and exposed long-running impersonation schemes.

Between November 5 and 12, authorities arrested six individuals involved in fuel trafficking networks that supplied armed groups, cutting off a critical financial and logistical support chain for criminal actors.

In a separate operation, a man who had been impersonating a non-commissioned officer for several years was apprehended, underscoring the vigilance of Nigerien security services in combating fraud and maintaining military integrity.

The suspects were publicly presented to the press in Niamey, highlighting the government’s intensified intelligence-driven efforts to target organized crime and reinforce national security.
