Félix Tshisekedi Condemns Rwanda’s Violation of Washington Peace Agreement
Kinshasa, December 2, 2025 - Kinshasa - The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, strongly condemned Rwanda for violating the peace agreement signed on December 4, 2025, in Washington, during a government meeting held on December 11 at the African Union City complex.
He accused Rwanda of intensifying military operations in South Kivu with the goal of seizing new localities, warning that this escalation aggravates an already critical humanitarian situation and constitutes a threat to the territorial integrity of the DRC.
President Tshisekedi called on national institutions to remain vigilant, urging the Ministers of the Interior and Defense to maintain full mobilization, while instructing the defense and security forces to remain on high alert.
In response to recent offensives by the AFC/M23, allegedly supported by Rwanda, particularly in Kamanyola, Luvungi, Katogota, and Uvira, he announced the upcoming convening of an inter-institutional meeting and an expanded High Defence Council to define, in full sovereignty, the necessary measures to guarantee the security of the population.
