Beni, DRC - The Regional Network of Civil Society Organizations Against the Recruitment and Use of Child Soldiers reported on October 29 that more than 32,000 children are still active in armed groups across Ituri, Maniema, Tanganyika, North Kivu, and South Kivu.

Speaking at the conclusion of a child protection workshop in Beni, participants urged the Congolese government to restore state authority in these conflict-affected areas and prioritize the separation and reintegration of child soldiers into their communities.

The network also called on the international community to strengthen support for ongoing peace processes, stressing that persistent insecurity continues to drive the recruitment of minors. Experts noted that without coordinated efforts, children remain highly vulnerable to exploitation, trauma, and disrupted education, underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive protection and rehabilitation programs.
