Deadly ADF Attack in Byambwe: 20 Civilians Killed, Including 18 Patients from Health Center
At least 20 civilians, including 18 bedridden patients, were killed overnight Friday to Saturday in an attack attributed to ADF rebels on the Byambwe referral health center, located 42 km from Butembo in North Kivu.
According to local sources, the attackers targeted the health facility, looted medicines, and set fire to neighboring houses, leaving behind a scene of devastation. Two other victims were found burned beyond recognition along the Mabiango road.
Civil society in the Bapere sector is calling for large-scale military operations to secure the area and restore the isolation of Mangurejipa, while its president, Kakule Samuel, warns of growing panic and the exodus of residents toward Butembo.
As of Saturday, November 15, 2025, the administrative authorities had not yet issued a response.
