By Amina Kabasele3 min readFrançais

February 12, 2026 -The 2025 annual report by the CD-DPA reveals a deteriorating human rights situation in Azawad and parts of central Mali, documenting 374 incidents of serious violations against civilian populations amid a non-international armed conflict. The report notes a heavy death toll of 553, including many women and children, and attributes the abuses primarily to the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) operating alongside foreign armed actors, notably Wagner and later the Africa Corps. Documented violations include torture, arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and the widespread destruction of civilian property, illustrating a systematic pattern of violence in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
