TILLABERI, Niger - Thursday, November 27, 2025 - Nigerien defense and security forces continue to face sophisticated asymmetric attacks, despite strengthened counterterrorism measures. On Thursday, an improvised explosive device struck a military convoy between Torodi and Makalondi, killing four personnel and injuring several others. Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) claimed responsibility for the attack, releasing images through its propaganda channels as part of an information warfare campaign.

This incident follows a complex ambush on Monday, November 24, targeting five military vehicles on the strategic Niamey-Téra road. While security forces have improved their tactical response, successfully minimizing casualties through effective counter-maneuvers, these attacks underscore the ongoing challenges of securing rural transport routes in the region.
