Army Receives Pakistani Armoured Vehicles For War Against RSF

Khartoum, August 6, 2026 - Sudan's armed forces have taken delivery of Pakistani-made Mohafiz armoured vehicles as they expand their arsenal for the war against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. Sudanese military officers said the army received about 100 of the lightweight vehicles in successive batches.

The Mohafiz, produced by Pakistan Ordnance Factories, is designed for mobility and field maintenance and offers ballistic protection against light and medium arms fire and shrapnel. The vehicles are expected to be deployed in terrain such as Kordofan and Darfur, where both sides rely heavily on mobile ground operations.

Military experts said the vehicles could help the army counter the RSF's use of fast, open-top four-wheel-drive pick-ups in urban fighting and on state highways. The deliveries form part of a broader procurement drive that also includes reconnaissance and attack drones, including Pakistani Shahpar models, and spare parts for K-8 trainer and light attack aircraft already operated by Sudan.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia have been cited as possible backers of a Pakistani arms deal for the army, though neither country has publicly commented.
