ADF Attack in Ilimba Kills Two Civilians
Kinshasa, February 13, 2026 - Violence continues to grip Beni territory, North Kivu, as Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) fighters carried out an attack on Thursday, February 12, in Ilimba, a village along the Oicha-Mantumbi road, killing two civilians.
Local sources report that the victims were the wife and son of the president of the Mantumbi civil society organization, both shot with firearms. In addition, two motorcycles were burned during the assault.
“In Miliese, where they were stopped by the Congolese army, the enemy set fire to a motorcycle near a military position. They also bypassed the area to kill civilians in Ilimba, where they shot and killed the wife of the president of the civil society organization and his son. Another motorcycle was also set ablaze,” said Kakule Katena, spokesperson for civil society in Mantumbi. He urged residents to remain vigilant and called on the Congolese government to intensify operations to track down the assailants.
This attack comes three days after a deadly assault in Mangadu, where five farmers were killed, and has further intensified the climate of fear that has gripped the Beni-Mbau area since the beginning of the week, following multiple ADF attacks on civilians.
