High Court Dismisses Case Challenging Dissolution of Political Parties

Bamako, September 29, 2025 - The High Court of Bamako’s 6th district this week rejected a complaint filed by political parties challenging the transitional government’s decision to dissolve them. The court ruled the petition unfounded, effectively upholding the government’s actions.

The political parties have indicated they may appeal the decision. Other proceedings related to the case are ongoing in both lower courts and the Constitutional Court.

Mountaga Tall, one of the parties’ lawyers, explained that the main objective was to have the repeal of the Political Parties Charter - the legal basis for the dissolution decree - reviewed by the Constitutional Court. The High Court route was pursued with the support of members of the National Transitional Council (CNT), but this approach proved difficult under current political conditions. Legal experts note that, alternatively, parties could raise an exception of unconstitutionality before a court, which would then refer the matter to the Constitutional Court via the Supreme Court.
