DRC Signs $155 Million AfDB Loan to Boost Ngandajika Agro-Industrial Park

KINSHASA, February 26, 2026 - The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has signed a $155 million loan agreement with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to strengthen connectivity for the Ngandajika Agro-Industrial Park. The signing was carried out by Minister of Finance Doudou Fwamba Likunde Li-Botayi.

This project forms the third component of the DRC’s Agricultural Transformation Program, aligning with the vision of President Félix Tshisekedi to make agriculture a strategic lever for economic diversification and food security.

Minister Fwamba emphasized that connectivity is central to the success of existing investments in governance and value chain development. “It is essential for the sustainable development of our agricultural potential and the effective integration of producers into local and regional markets,” he said.

The project includes the improvement of the Lukalaba-Ngandajika and Nkuadi-Ngandajika-Park roads, aiming to:

Open up the region sustainably

Reduce transport costs

Facilitate trade

Create jobs, particularly for youth and women

The government underscored that infrastructure development is key to agricultural transformation, food security, and national cohesion, while praising the AfDB partnership as vital for achieving strategic priorities.

Officials noted that this agreement strengthens DRC’s financial credibility with international partners and opens new avenues for integrated and sustainable rural development.
