KHARTOUM, July 13, 2026 - Sudan’s Security and Defence Council has reaffirmed its commitment to peace efforts, announcing that it is engaging positively with a mediation proposal presented by international facilitators while maintaining conditions aimed at safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The council, chaired by Sovereign Council Chairman and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, reviewed the proposed framework during a regular meeting and agreed on a unified government response. Officials said Sudan remains open to initiatives that reflect the aspirations of the Sudanese people and preserve the country's unity, independence, and territorial integrity.
