According to local sources, the incident occurred around 3:00 PM, when several vehicles and motorcycles were ambushed by unidentified armed men in an area under AFC/M23 rebel control. The attackers opened fire and used bladed weapons against the passengers, causing several injuries, though no fatalities were reported. Victims were transported to medical facilities in Kanyabayonga for treatment. In addition to the physical assault, all passengers’ valuables were looted, including money, cell phones, and merchandise, leaving many stripped of personal belongings.
