World Bank approves $25.75 million for Djibouti economic diversification program

Washington, D.C. / Djibouti City, March 30, 2026 - The World Bank has approved $25.75 million in financing to support Djibouti’s Economic Diversification Program, marking the country’s first Program-for-Results (PforR) operation. The initiative aims to strengthen the private sector, boost economic resilience, and create employment opportunities as Djibouti seeks to reduce reliance on a limited number of sectors. Officials say the program will focus on improving the business environment and supporting reforms designed to encourage investment and sustainable growth.
