Kampala, August 28, 2026 - A prosecution witness in the treason trial of opposition politician Kizza Besigye told the High Court that alleged training in Kisumu was linked to a planned attack on President Yoweri Museveni.

Wilson Andrew, also known as Orolando, said the training was expected to last one week, after which the alleged operation against the president would proceed. He also said two men were expected to camp in Entebbe and conduct surveillance around State House.

The proceedings included voice recordings lasting more than two hours, with portions that were unclear. The recordings were presented as part of the prosecution case and included a voice identified as the opposition politician discussing alleged backing from officers.

The trial remains politically significant because it involves a leading opposition figure and allegations touching the presidency, security services and the integrity of Uganda's justice process.
