Washington and Brussels insist on compliance with commitments in the DRC peace process

On 8 October 2025, during a meeting in Brussels, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot and Senior Advisor for Africa at the US State Department Massad Fares Boulos stressed the crucial importance for all stakeholders in the peace process in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to respect their commitments. They also stressed the need to maintain the current diplomatic momentum, particularly the peace initiatives resulting from the Washington Agreement and the Doha Process.

The two diplomats expressed their willingness to support efforts to establish lasting peace in eastern DRC, while calling for concrete action on the ground to deliver on the commitments made.
