Wakiso Police Arrest Boda Boda Rider Over Alleged Defilement of Minor
Wakiso, April 17, 2026 - Police in Wakiso District have arrested a boda boda rider following his alleged involvement in the defilement of an eight-year-old girl, an incident that was reportedly captured in a viral video circulating on social media.
The suspect, identified as Moses Ssebagala, was apprehended after being recognized in the footage, according to police.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala confirmed the arrest, stating that investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be presented before court.
“The suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody. He will be produced in court as investigations into the matter continue,” Kawala said.
Police say the alleged incident occurred on April 16, 2026, in Mabombwe Village, Mabombwe Parish, Mende Sub-county, Wakiso District.
Preliminary accounts indicate that the victim had been outside with her sister when the suspect allegedly approached them, gave them a mobile phone to watch cartoons, and later committed the offence.
Authorities have condemned the incident, describing it as a serious case of child abuse, and have urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the safety of children in their communities.
The case has sparked renewed concern over rising incidents of child abuse and exploitation, with law enforcement emphasizing continued efforts to track and prosecute offenders.
