BAMAKO, Mali - The US Embassy in Mali announced on October 10, 2025, that Malian nationals applying for B-1/B-2 visas (business or tourism) will be required to pay a deposit of $5,000 to $10,000 starting October 23.

The pilot program, implemented by the US State Department in coordination with the Treasury Department and the Department of Homeland Security, mandates that consular officers consider the applicant’s circumstances when determining the deposit amount. Applicants must also submit Department of Homeland Security Form I-352 via the Treasury Department’s Pay.gov platform, agreeing to the bond’s terms.

The deposit requirement applies to all Malian passport holders, regardless of the location where the visa application is submitted.
