United States Welcomes Progress In Doha Framework Talks
Kinshasa, August 22, 2026 - The United States welcomed progress in talks between the DRC government and AFC/M23 under the Doha framework, a diplomatic track aimed at stabilizing one of the country's most consequential security crises.
US adviser Massad Boulos said meetings held in Switzerland from August 17 to 21 advanced the process, with continued support pledged alongside Qatar, Togo as African Union mediator, Switzerland and the African Union Commission.
The parties adopted a roadmap covering ceasefire monitoring and remaining protocols. Sustained progress would be important for reducing conflict risk in eastern DRC, where insecurity continues to weigh on humanitarian conditions, state authority and investor confidence.
