United Nations Welcomes Angola’s Role in Inclusive National Dialogue in DRC
Kinshasa, February 11, 2026 - The United Nations has welcomed Angola’s willingness to help organize an inclusive national dialogue among the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The announcement was made in Kinshasa by Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, following consultations with social and political forces in the DRC and national authorities. “Regarding dialogue efforts, we noted with great interest Angola’s willingness to support the organization of an inclusive dialogue. Many political groups have high expectations, and the contribution of a third party, such as Angola, is essential to achieving this objective,” said Lacroix. He emphasized that MONUSCO will continue to support all progress, particularly in verifying compliance with the ceasefire. “The crucial importance is that diplomatic efforts intensify to implement commitments, especially regarding the ceasefire. MONUSCO must remain ready, available, and proactive to support these advances, focusing on efficiency in line with the Security Council mandate,” Lacroix added.
