Kinshasa - On December 8, 2025, a U.S. Treasury delegation, led by Acting Assistant Secretary of State Warren Ryan, met with the leadership of the Congolese National Financial Intelligence Unit (Cenaref) and experts from the Congolese Ministry of Finance to commend the Democratic Republic of Congo's efforts to be removed from the FATF gray list.

Discussions focused on strengthening technical cooperation in the fight against money laundering, terrorist financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, as well as Cenaref's future integration into the Egmont Global Network.

This initiative is part of the International Cooperation Review Group (ICRG) process and the reforms undertaken by Kinshasa, including the modernization of its legal and institutional framework and its accession to the ESAAMLG, aimed at restoring international financial confidence and attracting foreign investment.
