Tshopo: Provincial Assembly bureau targeted by motion of no confidence for mismanagement
Kinshasa, October 1, 2025 - Several members of the Tshopo Provincial Assembly, including its president, Mattheus Kanga Londimo, are the subject of a motion of no confidence filed on 7 October 2025 by fifteen provincial deputies accusing them of opaque management and the alleged embezzlement of USD 200,000 intended for the rehabilitation of the institution. The petitioners, led by Vicky Ilongo Koyale, say they want to restore transparency and accountability within the deliberative body.
In response, Mattheus Kanga denounced a political cabal that he attributes to Governor Paulin Lendongolia and rejected the accusations outright. A decisive plenary session is expected in the coming days to decide the fate of the bureau, in a local political climate marked by high tensions.
