Trial of Manzi Sezisoni Postponed Again by Gasabo High Court

Kigali, November 24, 2025 - The Gasabo High Court has once again postponed the trial of Manzi Sezisoni Davis, who faces multiple charges, including obtaining property through fraud, money laundering, and illegal currency trading.

The case involves allegations that Manzi defrauded citizens of over $10 million through a company called Billion Traders, promising investors significant profits. While the accused claims to have repaid 7 billion Rwandan francs, the Prosecution says no evidence has been provided to support this claim.

Authorities had previously requested a 15-year prison sentence for Manzi Davis and his wife, Akaliza, along with a $52 million fine. The case was reopened to allow plaintiffs to present their claims.

During the hearing on September 29, 2025, more than 100 plaintiffs stated that the agreements they made with Manzi Sezisoni should serve as conclusive evidence of his crimes. Manzi, however, argued that the agreements were unfulfilled and therefore should not constitute a crime. He asked the court to release him so that he could pursue funds frozen in an account he claims were meant to repay his creditors.

Manzi also stated that while he was abroad, it would have been easier to recover more than $2.5 million seized by the ICE Market Agency, following prosecution by judicial authorities.

The hearing, originally scheduled for October 18, 2025, has now been postponed to December 5, 2025.

Manzi Sezisoni has been detained at Nyarugenge Prison in Mageragere since August 29, 2024, following an order by the Gasabo Primary Court.
