Terrorists Attack Police and Gendarmerie in San, Steal Military Equipment
San -, October 15, 2025 - The town of San in central Mali was the scene of a terrorist attack on the evening of October 14, when heavily armed assailants targeted the local police station and gendarmerie.
The attack began around 7 p.m., with gunmen firing for several minutes before taking control of both security buildings. After seizing the premises, the assailants set them on fire and fled the scene.
According to the regional governor, the terrorists were able to evade military surveillance by arriving in two police vehicles stolen during a previous attack on the police station in Bla a month earlier.
The following day, the group released a video showing military equipment looted during the San attack, including four vehicles, a motorcycle, and a cache of weapons.
No police or gendarmes were reported killed or injured during the incident. Analysts note that security forces did not engage the attackers and appear to have abandoned their posts, as no hostages were taken during the assault.
The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in central Mali, where terrorist groups continue to strike government installations with relative impunity.
