Support for Tshisekedi Grows in Katanga Consultations

Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga, August 2, 2026 - Raphaël Katebe Katoto, a prominent political figure, concluded a series of consultations in Lubumbashi that spanned four days, engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders including notables, civil society representatives, church leaders, entrepreneurs, youth, and women from various communities. Following these discussions, Katoto emphasized the importance of supporting President Félix Tshisekedi's administration, asserting that the country is on the right path and urging participants not to seek the overthrow of the government. He highlighted the need for unity and collaboration, stating that a memorandum of grievances would be transmitted to the president, focusing on the theme of living together harmoniously.

The consultations come in the wake of President Tshisekedi's arrival in Lubumbashi on July 31, where he inaugurated a new Palais de justice, a project undertaken by the provincial government. This visit followed his earlier engagements in Haut-Lomami, including the inauguration of the Kamina water plant and the Kaniama-Kasese agro-industrial pole. Tshisekedi's initiatives aim to bolster infrastructure and economic development in the region, which has been a focal point of his administration's efforts to enhance governance and public services.
