Sudanese Plaintiffs Prepare US Civil Case Against UAE Over RSF Support Allegations

Khartoum, August 29, 2026 - Sudanese nationals living in the United States prepared a class-action lawsuit against the United Arab Emirates, seeking civil damages over alleged financial and logistical support for the Rapid Support Forces.

The planned case aims to hold Abu Dhabi legally liable for allegedly aiding and abetting RSF combat operations against the Sudanese armed forces during Sudan's war. The RSF has faced allegations from international rights organizations and legal monitors of genocide, widespread sexual violence, unlawful killings and forced displacement, particularly in Darfur.

Plaintiffs plan to rely on U.S. civil liability frameworks and prior legal precedents involving third-party support for abuses in Sudan. Legal advocates view such precedents as a potential pathway for pursuing entities accused of facilitating mass atrocities.

The case, if filed, could add legal and diplomatic pressure to scrutiny of external backing in Sudan's war, a key factor for investors assessing sanctions exposure, reputational risk and future reconstruction partnerships.
