Sudan and Saudi Arabia to Hold Investment Forum in Riyadh
Khartoum, April 19, 2026 - Sudanese and Saudi stakeholders are preparing to convene a major investment forum in Riyadh this June, in a bid to revive economic cooperation and address key financial and investment challenges between the two countries.
The initiative, announced by the Sudanese Employers Federation, will focus in particular on resolving constraints related to banking transfers and facilitating business operations. It marks the first large-scale economic gathering of its kind since the outbreak of conflict in Sudan in April 2023.
The forum follows recent diplomatic steps to strengthen bilateral ties, including plans to establish a joint coordination council aimed at enhancing economic and strategic cooperation.
Sudanese authorities have identified around 100 priority projects for potential partnerships with Saudi investors, with a combined estimated value exceeding $50 billion. These projects span several key sectors, including agriculture, energy, mining, infrastructure, and technology.
Organizers indicate that the event will bring together senior political and economic leaders from both countries, alongside private sector representatives. An exhibition showcasing Sudanese and Saudi products is also planned, with discussions expected to highlight reforms to Sudan’s investment framework and opportunities for public-private partnerships in reconstruction efforts.
Saudi Arabia remains Sudan’s leading Arab investment partner, with significant capital concentrated in agricultural ventures. Trade between the two countries is substantial, driven largely by exports of livestock and agricultural goods from Sudan.
The upcoming forum is seen as a step toward reactivating economic engagement and attracting foreign investment at a time when Sudan faces mounting reconstruction needs following prolonged conflict.
