South Kivu: Torrential Rains Leave Over 100 Families Homeless in Katogota
Katogota, Uvira, South Kivu, DRC - Heavy rains on November 4, 2025, left around 100 families homeless in Katogota, Uvira territory, as 143 houses were destroyed and the roofs of two primary schools and the local 8th CEPAC church were severely damaged.
Some residents were reportedly swept away by the Ruzizi River, though the exact number remains unclear. Mulala Ngwasi Delphin, coordinator of the Union for Peace and Integral Development (UPDI), issued an urgent appeal to humanitarian organizations to provide immediate assistance to the affected families.
