Six Civil Society Activists Freed In South Kivu After Two Weeks
Fizi, August 28, 2026 - Six civil society activists were released after 14 days in detention in Uvira, easing tensions in South Kivu's civic space.
The detentions had drawn concern in Fizi and surrounding areas, where civil society groups play a visible role in monitoring governance, security conditions and humanitarian needs.
