Rwandan Envoy Presents Credentials to Tunisia, Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Kigali, April 19, 2026 - The ceremony, held on April 15, 2026, represents a further step in strengthening diplomatic relations between Rwanda and Tunisia. Ambassador Umutoni, who is based in Rabat, will oversee Rwanda’s diplomatic interests in Tunisia as well as in Mauritania through the Rwandan Embassy in Morocco.

Following the presentation, the two officials held discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and identifying opportunities to deepen collaboration in areas of shared interest.

Rwanda and Tunisia maintain cooperation across several sectors, with particular emphasis on transport. In February 2020, both countries signed an air services agreement during the 33rd Ordinary Session of the African Union in Addis Ababa, allowing airlines from both nations to operate within each other’s airspace.

Tunisia, located in North Africa along the Mediterranean coast, has a population of over 12 million people. Arabic is the official language, and the Tunisian dinar serves as the national currency.

Officials from both countries say continued diplomatic engagement is expected to further consolidate relations and expand cooperation in key sectors.
