Rwanda Praises Pakistan's Role in US-Iran Peace Efforts at Liberation Day Event

Kigali, July 6, 2026 - ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, July 6, 2026 - Rwanda has commended Pakistan for its role in facilitating diplomatic efforts that contributed to a peace agreement between the United States and Iran, describing the initiative as an important contribution to regional and international stability.

The remarks were made during celebrations marking Rwanda's 32nd Liberation Day in Islamabad, where Rwanda's Ambassador to Pakistan, Fatou Harerimana, thanked the Pakistani government for supporting dialogue that began in Islamabad and culminated in the signing of a peace agreement in Switzerland following the conflict between the United States and Iran.

The ambassador also highlighted the growing partnership between Rwanda and Pakistan, saying the two countries continue to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors based on shared interests and mutual respect. She noted Rwanda's progress over the past three decades, attributing the country's transformation to sustained efforts in governance, innovation, and economic development.

Representing the Pakistani government, Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to expanding bilateral relations with Rwanda. He also said Rwanda's Liberation Day symbolizes the restoration of peace and stability following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and acknowledged the country's progress in reconstruction and development.
