Rwanda Graduates 16th Indangamirwa Intore Cohort

Gatsibo, August 10, 2026 - Rwanda graduated 769 young people from the 16th Indangamirwa Itorero program after 40 days of training at the Gabiro Military Training Center in Gatsibo District.

The cohort included 454 men and 315 women drawn from Rwandans living or studying abroad, students at international secondary schools and universities, and high-performing participants from the 13th Inkomezamabigwi Itorero.

Training covered Kinyarwanda, Rwandan culture, values and social norms, as well as basic military instruction including shooting, combat discipline, martial arts and physical exercises. Participants also held sessions with senior national leaders, including President Paul Kagame.

With the latest class, the Indangamirwa program has trained 5,985 young people, including 5,216 graduates from the previous 15 cohorts. The program remains part of Rwanda's broader state-led civic education model, with a strong focus on national identity, discipline and diaspora engagement.
