Rwanda delivers presidential message to Congo-Brazzaville leader Sassou N’Guesso

Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, March 26, 2026 - Rwanda’s Minister of Internal Security Vincent Biruta has been received by President Denis Sassou Nguesso, to whom he delivered a message from President Paul Kagame during an official visit.

The meeting took place on March 25 in Brazzaville, where discussions focused on bilateral relations and continued cooperation between the two countries.

According to officials, the message from President Kagame conveyed congratulations to Sassou N’Guesso following his recent electoral victory, in which he secured another presidential term after the March 15, 2026 elections.

The talks also touched on regional diplomatic developments, including Rwanda’s support for the candidacy of Louise Mushikiwabo for leadership of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), as Kigali continues to rally support ahead of upcoming internal voting processes.

Beyond diplomatic messaging, both sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations and explored ways to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors, including security, trade, and development.

Rwanda and Congo-Brazzaville maintain longstanding diplomatic ties, strengthened over the years through agreements covering aviation, tourism, energy, security, education, environmental protection, and trade.

Officials reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation as part of ongoing regional engagement efforts.
