Rwanda: Congolese nationals deprived of consular services launch urgent appeal in Kinshasa

By Amina Kabasele2 min readFrançais

Currently, more than 45,000 Congolese nationals living in Rwanda are sounding the alarm over the lack of consular services since Congolese diplomats were recalled to Kinshasa. Unable to renew their passports or obtain travel documents, many of them find themselves in an irregular situation, threatened with losing their jobs, their studies or access to healthcare.

Without valid documents, they can no longer carry out banking transactions or essential administrative procedures. The Congolese community is calling on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to urgently appoint a local agent in charge of day-to-day affairs to restore the necessary administrative and humanitarian assistance, while Kinshasa remains silent on this crisis.
