Rwanda and Israel Sign Cooperation Agreements on Education, Science and Research

Kigali, July 6, 2026 - JERUSALEM, Israel, July 6, 2026 - Rwanda and Israel have signed new cooperation agreements aimed at strengthening collaboration in education, science, technology, higher education, and scientific research, as both countries reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral relations.

The agreements were signed in Jerusalem by Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Olivier Nduhungirehe, and Israel's Foreign Minister, Gideon Moshe Sa'ar. Rwanda's Centre for International Cooperation (RCI) and Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) also concluded a partnership agreement to support development cooperation.

During the signing ceremony, the two ministers emphasized the historical ties between Rwanda and Israel, noting that both countries have rebuilt after periods of profound national tragedy and continue to prioritize resilience, innovation, and development. They said the new agreements would promote knowledge sharing, capacity building, academic exchanges, and joint initiatives in education and research.

Rwandan officials described the agreements as another step in deepening bilateral cooperation, while Israeli officials highlighted the partnership as an example of how countries can transform historical challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation. During the visit, Minister Nduhungirehe also toured several sites in Jerusalem, including the Western Wall and the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial.
