RPF Marks Liberation Day with Focus on Unity, Self-Reliance and Youth Leadership

KIGALI, Rwanda, July 4, 2026 - Rwanda's 32nd Liberation Day was marked by renewed emphasis on national unity, self-reliance, and inclusive governance, with the ruling RPF-Inkotanyi highlighting the country's transformation since the end of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The anniversary underscored the RPF's view that liberation extends beyond military victory to encompass reconciliation, institution-building, economic development, and citizen participation. The party argued that its governance model has sought to replace decades of division, discrimination, and authoritarian rule with policies centered on national cohesion and equal opportunities. The RPF also stressed the importance of empowering citizens through education, justice, and political inclusion, while promoting gender equality and youth leadership as key pillars of Rwanda's long-term development. It maintained that reducing poverty and expanding public participation remain essential to sustaining the country's progress. Looking ahead, the party called on Rwanda's younger generation to continue the country's transformation by embracing innovation, responsibility, and patriotism. It said the ongoing mission is to strengthen Rwanda's self-reliance and preserve the gains achieved in peace, security, freedom, and sustainable development.
