Addis Ababa, June 1, 2026 - Key meetings of the Quintet Committee on Sudan, scheduled for Wednesday in the Ethiopian capital, face uncertainty amid disagreements over participant representation, raising the possibility of a delay.

The mediation platform, designed to address Sudan’s worsening political crisis and foster dialogue among competing factions, aims to facilitate a broad political process focused on the country’s future governance.

However, disagreements have emerged over the composition and number of delegates assigned to participating groups. Objections have also surfaced regarding the inclusion of rival political blocs in the planned direct consultations, complicating preparations for the gathering.

The ongoing disputes have cast doubt on whether the meeting will proceed as planned, with postponement remaining a possibility as negotiations continue.

Meanwhile, the “Tasis” (Founding) Alliance confirmed it had received an official invitation to attend the consultations, which are intended to serve as preliminary discussions for Sudan’s political process.
