Prime Minister Meets New UN Resident Coordinator to Discuss Development Priorities
Bamako, March 13, 2026 - Mali’s Prime Minister, Major General Abdoulaye Maïga, received Hanaa Singer, the newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Mali, on Friday for an introductory audience that quickly evolved into a working session.
During the meeting, Maïga praised ongoing government efforts to improve living conditions for Malians, highlighting the resilience and courage of the population amid ongoing social and economic challenges.
The UN official discussed plans for future collaboration with the Malian government, seeking guidance on aligning UN programs with the country’s National Strategy for Emergence and Sustainable Development (SNEDD 2024-2033).
Key focus areas identified during the discussion included health, education, renewable energy, and food security, underscoring the UN’s commitment to supporting Mali’s long-term development and humanitarian objectives.
