President of Ségou Regional Council Abducted Alongside Driver
Bamako, September 30, 2025 - Mr. Siaka Dembélé, president of the Ségou Regional Council, and his driver were kidnapped on Friday afternoon, October 3, 2025, while traveling on the road to Bamako. Authorities have not reported any updates on their whereabouts since the abduction.
The council’s secretary general and first vice president have called for public prayers for the safe and swift release of both individuals. This incident marks the first reported hostage-taking along the Ségou-Bamako corridor since a series of attacks began in the area three weeks ago.
