Kigali, Rwanda - 20 November 2025 - President Paul Kagame received François Ndong Obiang, Gabon’s Minister of Reforms and Institutional Cooperation, at Village Urugwiro. Minister Obiang delivered a message from President Brice Oligui Nguema of Gabon to President Kagame.

Rwanda and Gabon have maintained diplomatic ties since their respective independences, cooperating through international organizations such as the African Union (AU) and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).

Bilateral relations have been strengthened in recent years. In October 2023, President Nguema visited Rwanda, discussing ways to enhance cooperation in education, trade, economy, agriculture, and technology, marking a new era in ties between the two countries.

In November 2024, Rwanda’s Office of the Ombudsman and Gabon’s Commission for the Fight Against Corruption and Financial Crimes signed a cooperation agreement to combat corruption. Furthermore, President Kagame attended President Nguema’s swearing-in ceremony in May 2025, reinforcing the growing partnership between the nations.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation across multiple sectors to promote development and prosperity for both countries.
