President Kagame Holds High-Level Talks in Washington Following DRC-Rwanda Peace Agreement

President Paul Kagame of Rwanda held bilateral talks with several heads of state and government, including President William Ruto of Kenya, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of Togo, and Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley of Barbados, during his visit to Washington, D.C.

These discussions followed the signing of the historic peace agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on December 4, 2025, which Kagame attended alongside other leaders, including Ruto and Gnassingbé.

During the meeting with Prime Minister Mottley, the leaders focused on strengthening cooperation in security, health, and trade, building on recent exchanges that included Kagame’s visit to Barbados and Mottley’s trip to Kigali.

The talks with President Gnassingbé of Togo centered on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between Rwanda and Togo, emphasizing continued partnership in political and economic matters.

These meetings underscore Rwanda’s commitment to regional stability, international collaboration, and expanding diplomatic ties following its role in the DRC-Rwanda peace process.
