President Félix Tshisekedi Highlights DRC as a “Country of Solutions”

Kinshasa, January 24, 2026 - Davos, Switzerland January 18, 2026 - President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will participate as a guest of honor in the 56th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled from January 19 to 23, 2026.

The WEF in Davos, one of the world’s foremost platforms for public-private cooperation, brings together heads of state, business leaders, and civil society representatives to discuss global challenges under the theme: “A Spirit of Dialogue.” This year’s edition expects participation from over 50 world leaders.

According to Tina Salama, spokesperson for President Tshisekedi, the DRC will present itself as a “country of solutions” for Africa and the world. Key areas highlighted include:

Climate solutions, leveraging the DRC’s rich forests and peatlands.

Energy transition, through critical mineral resources and hydroelectric potential.

Human capital, driven by a youthful population of nearly 70%, forming a strategic workforce for AI, technology, and innovation sectors.

The presentation also addresses the security challenges facing the DRC, including Rwandan-backed AFC/M23 rebel occupation in parts of North Kivu and South Kivu, emphasizing mutually beneficial partnerships that respect the country’s sovereignty and contribute to lasting peace.

Organizers of the Forum underscore that the 2026 program will focus on five major global challenges, emphasizing inclusive dialogue, collaboration, and innovation as essential for progress.
